Our structure and associated organisations



The Adult, Community and Further Education business unit is part of the Department of Planning and Community Development. It supports the planning, policy and resource allocation roles of the ACFE Board.

In addition to a central office, ACFE includes nine regional offices (four metropolitan and five regional/rural) that have a direct relationship with funded ACE organisations in their regions. These regional offices provide support to ACFE Regional Councils.

ACFE works closely with other statutory bodies such as the link opens new window Centre for Adult Education and the link opens new window Adult Multicultural Education Services and Further Education.

ACFE Board


The role of the Adult, Community and Further Education Board is to plan and promote adult learning, allocate resources, develop policies and advise the Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation on matters related to ACFE.

ACFE Regional Councils


Regional Councils of ACFE advise the Board on local needs with respect to Adult Community Education and support the implementation of plans and policies.

Working across government


ACFE works closely with the link opens new window Victorian Skills Commission which allocates resources for TAFE, private providers and community providers.

ACFE also works with the link opens new window Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority which is responsible for the regulation of education and training providers and qualifications in Victoria – from home schooling to higher education.
