ACFE Board

The ACFE Board is a statutory authority under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Word) 1432 kb) Education and Training Reform Act (2006). Its role is to plan and promote adult learning, allocate resources, develop policies, and advise the Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation on matters related to ACFE.

The Board works jointly with the Victorian Skills Commission whose responsibilities include further education in TAFE Institutes, to plan the overall direction and delivery of further education in Victoria. ACFE Board membership



The ACFE Board has 12 members, including a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson. Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor-in-Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation. The composition of the Board reflects the breadth and diversity of adult education in the community and its links with government, industry and community sector activity.

The Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation, the Hon Jacinta Allan MP seeks expressions of interest for membership at various times of the year for the following public entities:
  • The Adult, Community and Further Education Board
  • Regional Councils of Adult Community and Further Education


The Minister will notify the community when she is seeking expressions of interest through the local media. A message will be posted in the Latest News section of the ACFE website when applications can be received.
