Appointment of a new Chairperson to the Adult, Community and Further Education Board


The Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation, Jacinta Allan has recently announced the appointment of Ms Rowena Allen as Chairperson of the ACFE Board. Ms Allen’s three year term commenced on 1 November 2009.

Ms Allen has a strong background working with communities, government and not-for-profit organisations to build social inclusion and participation her appointment to the ACFE Board will strengthen the links between the sector and the communities it serves.

We would like to thank Mr Adrian Nye for stepping in as Acting Chairperson since August 2008. He has filled the role of ACFE Board Chair at a critical time in the development of the ACE sector and has been a great ambassador for the Adult Community Education sector.

Adult Community Education: Contributing to Economic and Social Development in Victoria


The Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation Jacinta Allan released the report The Economic Benefits of Investment in Adult Community Education in Victoria on 31 October 2008.

“The report reaffirms the economic and social benefits of the ACE sector and the importance of the Brumby Government’s $39 million annual investment in community learning programs” Minister Allan said.

The Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board commissioned Allen Consulting Group to prepare the report.

ACFE Disability Strategy


The ACFE Board has endorsed a Disability Strategy 2008 - 2010: Participation outcomes for learners with a disability in ACE.

ACE Longitudinal study


A three year study commissioned by the ACFE Board provides evidence that Adult Community Education leads to a range of positive outcomes for learners. ACE provides a platform for further study creates connections with work and expands involvement in community activities. It also strengthens understanding of Australian culture and values, builds communication, life and employability skills.
